Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 3, 2026 · Effective: May 3, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information HeyKidGo ("we", "us") collects when you use the Service, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We are committed to handling your family's data responsibly. If you have questions, email privacy@heykidgo.com.

2. Information You Provide

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and authentication identifiers via Clerk. You may optionally provide a phone number for SMS notifications.

Family profile. You may add information about your children and other travelers — first names or nicknames, ages, dietary needs, allergies, mobility considerations, and travel preferences — so HeyKidGo can personalize itineraries.

Trip data. Destinations, dates, daily plans, places visited, votes, comments, ratings, and notes you create within HeyKidGo.

Payment information. If you purchase a paid feature, payment details are collected and processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our servers.

Communications. Messages you send to support, contact-form submissions, and feedback you submit.

3. Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service we automatically collect: device and browser information, IP address, approximate location (derived from IP), pages visited, features used, referring URL, and timestamps. We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure performance.

4. Your Consent — Why You're Granting Us Permission

By creating an account or submitting any form on HeyKidGo (including the sign-up, contact, or family-member forms) you expressly consent to the following:

  • Data collection and processing. You authorize us to collect, store, and process the information described above for the purposes set out in Section 5.
  • Email communications. You authorize us to send you transactional emails (account, billing, security, trip-related) and, unless you opt out, occasional product updates, tips, and marketing emails. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link.
  • SMS / text-message communications. If you provide a phone number, you authorize us to send you text messages relating to your trips, account security, voting reminders, and occasional product updates. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out; reply HELP for help. Frequency varies based on your trip activity.
  • Push notifications and in-app alerts. If enabled in your browser or device settings.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, secure, and improve the Service
  • Generate AI-powered itineraries personalized to your family
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Send transactional emails and SMS related to your account and trips
  • Send occasional product updates and marketing (with opt-out)
  • Respond to support inquiries and contact-form submissions
  • Detect and prevent abuse, security incidents, and policy violations
  • Comply with legal obligations

6. Children's Information

HeyKidGo is intended for parents and guardians, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Information about children that you (the parent or guardian) provide — first names or nicknames, ages, allergies, preferences — is treated as part of your account data and used solely to personalize your family's itinerary. We do not sell children's information and we do not use it for advertising.

7. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

  • Service providers. Vetted vendors who host our infrastructure, process payments (Stripe), manage authentication (Clerk), send email (Resend), send SMS, provide AI processing, monitor errors, and provide customer support (Crisp). These providers process information on our behalf under contractual obligations.
  • People you choose. Trip collaborators, vote-link recipients, and family members you invite see the trip content you share with them.
  • Legal and safety. When required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of HeyKidGo, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — we will notify you and provide options before your data is transferred.

8. International Transfers

HeyKidGo is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US and other countries where our service providers operate.

9. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 60 days, except for records we must retain for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information. You can exercise most of these rights from your account settings or by emailing privacy@heykidgo.com. We will respond within the timelines required by applicable law (typically 30–45 days).

11. California Residents

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA.

12. EU/UK/EEA Residents

If you are in the EU, UK, or EEA, our legal bases for processing your data are consent (for marketing emails, SMS, and optional analytics), contract (to provide the Service), legal obligation, and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

13. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest where appropriate, role-based access controls, and continuous monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Cookies & Tracking

We use strictly-necessary cookies for authentication and session management, and limited analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect functionality.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or in-product notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
